The Migraine Warrior with Michelle

We asked Michelle why she chose the design for her logo. This is what she has to say:

“I was diagnosed with migraine in mid-August of 2004 and my life changed in so many ways. I found myself angry and sad and scared and confused. I grew tired of hearing people say “It’s just a headache.” Migraine is so much more than that. I felt defeated. What could I do? I could fight back. I chose The Migraine Warrior logo because warriors are brave, experienced, and work with others to defeat a common enemy. In this case, the enemy is migraine. I worked with a graphic designer named Daniel Taylor to create my logo. He is my cousin and the parent of a beautiful and brave young woman living with chronic migraine. I chose purple because that is the awareness color for migraine. The lightning bolt pays homage to one of my favorite Greek myths about Zeus and the birth of his daughter Athena, a fierce warrior. I chose the words “It’s more than just a headache!” to start conversations about what migraine is and what it isn’t. My goal is to empathize, educate, and empower and I hope that wearing this helps you do the same. ”
